My name is Josh, and I love making music, whether it's an aria by Mozart, a Disney classic, or a new Vampire Weekend single. I am a singer, a musician, an actor, sometimes even a dancer, and I love helping people find joy in music!
My musical journey started in middle school when I was cast as a young farmhand in a community theatre production of Oklahoma! The friends I made and the musicians I worked with were so inspiring that I enrolled in theatre school, performed in more than 25 shows, and eventually earned a Bachelors degree in Vocal Performance from Western University.
Armed with a little education, I spent a year as Musical Director and Voice Teacher for the LYTE (London Youth Theater Experience) Program, which offers subsidized musical theatre training to families in London, Ontario. That season we presented Beauty and the Beast with a cast of thirty teens and twenty juniors, and when I saw my students conquering their fears and falling in love with performing, it was like it was happening to me all over again. I continued to explore teaching by moving to Thailand, where I spent a year teaching English in a temple school before taking a job teaching English and Music at a middle school in South Korea. I will always be grateful to my students and colleagues abroad for all that they taught me, but after two years away from home, I returned to earn my Masters Degree in music at the University of Toronto and to make the city my home.
I am involved with several musical organizations here in the city, performing professionally for opera companies, choirs, and local churches, and meeting great mentors, but I still find the most joy playing covers with my friends, or gathering around the piano to sing carols or musical classics. I am so grateful to be continuing my musical education here, and I can't wait to share it with you.
