Hi, I'm Odelia! Or you can call me “Odie” like the dog from Garfield! Growing up, music was a big part of my life: piano at 4 years old, guitar at 11, drums at 14, ukulele at 23. I have my grade 10 from the Royal Conservatory of Music in piano. I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University’s Master of Music Therapy program and have worked with various ages and populations, from the NICU to long-term care. I have been teaching since 2015 and adapting my music lessons for those who may benefit from nontraditional music lessons (e.g. individuals with special needs, sensory sensitivities, etc.). My teaching philosophy is to meet students where they are at. I believe in a positive, inclusive learning environment in which collaboration and creativity serve to highlight the students’ individuality and foster their love for music and learning. Casually performing in jazz and concert bands, coffeehouses, open mics, and various events is my cup of tea! In my spare time, I provide music at local churches, fold origami, assemble 3D wooden models, solve sudoku puzzles, watch K-dramas, and explore the ravines and trails around town!
