Hey, I'm James! Growing up, I had a blast playing in middle school jazz ensembles and high school rock bands with friends. I have been playing music for over 20 years. As a teacher, I bring a wealth of experience from previous roles as a K-12 Tutor and a Graduate Teaching Assistant. My philosophy is to provide a laid-back, adaptable, and student-centred approach to music education, which tailors lessons to meet students where they are (in terms of their song, artist, and genre interests, their goals, their skill level, etc.). Ultimately, my primary goal as an instructor is to get you to fall in love with your instrument—and with music, more broadly! Recently, I have self-released a couple of instrumental projects under the monikers "Man's Best Friend" and "Aurora Ouroboros". Currently, I am working to formalize my talents by progressing through the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum. When I am "off the clock," I love attending concerts, jamming with friends, experimenting with new musical ideas in Ableton, and hanging out with my many pets. :)
