Hi, I’m Matthew! I studied percussion for a year at the University of Waterloo before completing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Toronto. I’ve been teaching music since 2022. I’m a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and music producer. I teach drums, guitar, ukulele, and bass guitar, and I’ve been playing & making music since I was 12.Every student learns differently, so I shape lessons personally around what excites them, whether that’s building confidence, learning favourite songs, or developing solid technique. My goal is to make music engaging, supportive, and fun while still building a strong foundation. Beyond teaching, I perform at events, music venues, bars & festivals, and I also run a weekly open mic in Oakville, where all levels can get on stage. These experiences allow me to bring real-world insight into my lessons and help students see how music can connect people. Fun facts: I’m a fan of all things related to space, linguistics, anime, and (probably too much) cheese. I’d love to help you start your musical journey!
